Dolans Bay/Burraneer Bay

In 1861 Thomas Holt, Sydney wool merchant and financier purchased an extensive property which ran from Botany Bay to Port Hacking, what is now known as a large part of the Sutherland Shire. Holt build Sutherland House near Gwawley Bay. He employed many local Aboriginal people including Jimmy Lowndes and William Rowley on his Sylvania and Dolans Bay/Burraneer Bay businesses.
